How to Resume Broken Downloads in IDM ? – Different Methods
You may often face situations when you stuck in between downloading of files at 50% or even 90% which is quite frustrating and while resuming the downloading you end up facing a message like “Do you want to download the file from the beginning”.
This situations can arises due to several reasons out of which some of the most common responsible factors for such situation are :
- The server has stopped responding or dead.
- Either you have manually paused it or cancelled accidentally.
- There might some connectivity issues with your internet.
Method – 1 : Using a new Download Address
- Open your IDM and Right Click on the Broken Download File.
- Select properties and Copy the Address field.
- Paste the Address field in your web browser.
- Here click to download the file and when the dialog box appears select ‘Download It later’
- Again open your IDM Interface and Right click on the file that you selected to “Download it later”
- Select Properties and Copy the Address field
- Paste this address field in the Address field of your Old Broken download file.
- That’s all and you are all done.Just Resume the Downloading and you are on your way.
Method – 2 : IDM waiting for new link address
This method is useful for users facing error like “Probably this site uses temporary links that cannot be requested twice or expire after some time when session is completed.”
- Open your IDM and Right Click on the Broken Download File.
- Select Refresh download address
- A new dialog box will pop up from IDM Specifying that “IDM Will open a web page in your browser where it captured the download” and here click OK
- Here start downloading the same link again and Once IDM detects new link has been found, IDM will immediately resume your download.
Note – This method doesn’t work for every download case as some of the links are static where as some are dynamic that continues to change each time you try to download the same file therefore in such case try using method – 1.
