Fix 1: Install older version of Realtek Network Controller Driver

This must be the simplest fix for this error. At times when the developer releases new driver update, the drivers create mess instead of fixing  the bug for which they have been released. What you can do here is download the older version of Realtek network controller driver. For example, if you have updated to the 2.9 version, download and install 2.7 version of the driver. Once installed, see if this has resolved the issues for you.

Fix 2: Enable NIC from BIOS Settings

Begin with uninstalling the network card driver. Next, power off or shut down your PC completely. Restart the PC, and start pressing F2 to bring up the BIOS settings menu. From the BIOS settings go to NIC and enable it.  Now restart your PC and reinstall the Realtek Network Controller driver.

Fix 3: Manually Install Driver and Turn off Deep Sleep mode

If the above methods didn’t work then you may need to manually install the Realtek controller driver on your PC. Follow these steps to know how to do it.

  • Download original Realtek driver from here according to your Windows version.
  • Now go to Device Manager and right-click the Ethernet Adapter in the device manager.
  • Select update driver software and select Browse my computer for driver software.
  • Navigate to where you have downloaded the driver and select it.
  • Once the driver has been successfully installed in your PC, it’s time to turn off Deep Sleep Mode.
  • Go to Start and go to Control Panel.
  • Select System and Security and then click on Device Manager.
  • Double click on Network adapter and then open Realtek Network Controller by double clicking on it.
  • Turn off the Deep Sleep Mode by unchecking the ” Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” option from power management tab.

Fix 4: Enable Internal LAN or Built-in LAN

Shutdown your PC and turn it back on. When the black screen appears, start pressing F2 key and enter the BIOS settings. From the BIOS settings, go to Advanced > System configuration and enable Built-in LAN.

Now save the changes by pressing F10 and exit the BIOS settings. Now restart your PC and see if the error has been resolved.

Fix 5: Install Drivers from other vendors

If installing the Realtek Network Controller driver is not working then you may try installing athero driver. Download and install Athero driver and see if this can fix the issue. Some users have reported that installing  Atheros driver has fixed this issue.  Make sure that you have uninstalled Realtek driver before trying to install this driver.

Fix 6: Kill your PC

Don’t panic! All you have to do is kill your laptop by leeching whatever power it has after uninstalling the Realtek Network Controller driver. Restart your PC and unplug the power cord and let it run on battery. Let the computer die because of low charge. Once the PC shut downs, restart it again and let it die again. Do this until you PC stops responding. Now Plug in the power cord and restart your PC after few minutes.
