Fix Updates are Disabled by the Administrator Chrome : Steps to Follow

Close your Google Chrome browser if it is open.

  • Open Run dialogue.  To do this, press Windows Key + R.
  • In the Run dialogue box, type in Regedit and hit enter. This will open Registry Editor window.
  • From the Registry Editor window, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\.
  • Double click on UpdateDefault or DefaultUpdate. Set the value to 1 if it is 0.
  • Now exit the registry editor and close the window.

Open Google Chrome browser and type Chrome://chrome in the address bar and you should see the current version or any update available for your browser. If not, you will see Google Chrome is up to date message being displayed.
