Xiaomi to Launch all new Mi TV Series in India @ 7th March 2018

After the recent disruption in the Television market from Xiaomi earlier last month, Xiaomi is again set to expand it’s Mi TV range in India with the introduction of smaller, better and cheaper TV models. As per the latest update on Mi.com/in website it is expected that Xiaomi will unveil it’s new Mi TV series on 7th march and along side with the launch of Mi TV Series we can expect few other product launches too. Though there is still no confirmation on what could be the size and pricing of the new Mi TV Series but as per the latest tweets from Jain “Mi fans! Something new is coming to India! It’s time to switch to something smarter, slimmer and sleeker. Coming soon,”and Manager Sudeep Sahu “Innovation should be accessible to everyone. We are bringing a new series enabling more people to #SwitchToSmart TV experience [sic].” it could be easily decoded that Xiaomi is inline with another big disruption in the Television market with the introduction of new slimmer TV sets.

There are speculations that Xiaomi will be launching Mi TV 4A range alongside with Mi TV 4C series which was launched earlier in October 2017 in China. If it’s the Mi TV 4C launch we can expect to have two screen sizes comprising of 43-inch and 55-inch. The 43-inch Mi TV 4C will include 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage space at a competitive price of CNY 1,849 (around Rs. 19,000), whereas the 55-inch variant comes loaded with 2GB RAM and 8GB of storage space priced at CNY 2,649 (approximately Rs. 27,200).

Both variants will have a quad-core Amlogic T962 64-bit processor and support Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, Dolby, and DTS Audio. There is also HDR 10 and HLG as well as a blue light-reducing mode. Additionally, there is Mi Bluetooth Remote Control support that adds Speech Recognition, Mi Touch, and Infrared features at a price of CNY 99 (roughly Rs. 1,000).

For the Xiaomi Mi TV 4A series we can expect to have a 40 inch TV series on show boasting a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. Under the hood, it features a quad-core 64-bit Amlogic T962 processor clocked at 1.5GHz along with a Mali 450 GPU, clubbed with 1GB RAM/ 8GB of storage. It has a 60Hz refresh rate, a static contrast ratio of 5000:1. The Mi TV 4A includes Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, 2 HDMI ports, one component port, 2 USB ports, 1 Ethernet port, 1 S / PDIF port, Dolby Audio, DTS- HD audio dual decoding, 2x8W speakers, and runs on PatchWall OS.

Still as said above there is still no confirmation on which product series will be launched but yes from the tweets made by Xiaomi officials we can decypher that we are going to witness something cheaper, smaller, slikker in the form of all new TV series. On the conclusion end, it remains clear that Xiaomi is all set to take on companies such as Intex, Vu, Sanyo and Micromax. In the longer run this could be a worry for the major TV market share holding companies like Samsung, LG and Sony.
