Sometimes a corrupt/outdated network driver or some minor issue with Windows settings could result into such errors so before dwelling into technical space, it is important to make sure that your Network drivers are updated and try to check for your Ethernet connection cable. Also attempt a System restart and see if that helps. Sometimes even a small computer restart helps to resolve the issue. Check below mentioned fixes on how to fix Ethernet doesn’t have a valid IP Configuration in Windows 10, Windows 8.1 or Windows 7.

Fix – 1: By Restarting your Entire TCP/IP Settings

In any sort of Internet connection issue, this is regarded as a golden fix for removing most of these such issues. What we are going to do is simply re-install the TCP/IP settings with simple use of Windows command prompt.

    • Open your Command Prompt (By pressing Windows + R and type cmd in the RUN Dialog box). If you are running Windows 8 or above you may directly type in Command Prompt in the Search box and right click on it and Select “Run As Administrator”. It is very important to Run the Command prompt with Administrator privileges.
  • Now in the Command Prompt Type the following commands one by one and hit Enter after each command line.

netsh winsock reset

netsh int ip reset

  • Once done successfully, you just need to restart your system so that the desired new changes can take place.

Fix – 2: Reconfiguring your TCP/IP Network Settings

Here now we would be reconfiguring the Internet protocol settings. First we would start with re-assigning the IP address automatically via command prompt. Repeat the 1st step of opening the Command prompt as mentioned above.

  • Now in the Command Prompt Type the following commands one by one and hit Enter after each command line.

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

  • Once done successfully, you may retry connecting the Ethernet and see if that helps. You might go for a system restart too. If that doesn’t help either proceed on with the following steps:
  • Open your Network Adapter settings via RUN Command box. Type ncpa.cpl in the RUN Command box as shown below in the image.

In the Preferred DNS Address Use the Following:

  • Also for the IP address you may try to enter it manually by getting details from your ISP provider. Also for Default gateway and Subnet mask, you can just check connection properties on any other device that can connect successfully to your network.

If all the above solution doesn’t work out, you are left with one and only option that is to Uninstall your existing Ethernet driver and reinstall a fresh copy. To Uninstall the Driver, follow the below mentioned steps:
